All About: Santa Fe by Brintons

The story begins In November of 2019, when the Brintons team (naive to the following year’s insanity) traveled to New Mexico for a Brintons Design Conference.

After spending the weekend diving headfirst into the local art + maker scene, brushing up on the latest carpet design practices, reconnecting with carpet loving colleagues and celebrating all things Brintons, the team of creatives begins the journey to next groundbreaking design collection.

Following the path carved by our Self-Expression Project, an experiment where carpet designers were given different inspirational catalysts to respond to, the Brintons team looks to open the horizons of creation just a bit more. With Self-Expression’s second chapter, designers are given the space to choose their individual inspiration themselves.

Brintons designers were inspired by the variety of the “Fanta Se” art world has to offer by spending time immersed in Meow Wolf’s glowing alternate universe, dissecting the collection at the Georgia O’Keefe Museum, and learning weaving techniques from the Trujillo family in Chimayo.

Inspired by community, collaboration and the magic of The City Different, our designers created a collection of sixteen fully customizable Axminster carpet patterns, woven with our 80/20 wool-nylon blend, curated with the hospitality market in mind.

You Are Now Entering the Blazing 20s

Emerge anew with optimistic color, perfectly imperfect details, & wildly expressive motifs.

With a purpose not merely to forecast trends, but to transform and transcend them, Stacy Garcia’s Color Innovation Series brings forward pattern and color stories that offer a fresh perspective.

Part one kicks off with the 'Blazing 20s' and highlights the dynamism, color confidence and modern lens that the Stacy Garcia for Brintons collaboration is known for.

We’ve entered the Blazing 20’s, igniting change and starting a new beginning. Inspired by an era of vast change, this trend focuses on a return to social, artistic and cultural dynamism.

Featuring an optimistic color palette including sunrise hues, this trend symbolizes an energetic movement and the celebration of a new day. With a nod to the whimsical fashion and culture of the 1920’s, this trend highlights a return to Art Deco with a combination of varying lines and curved shapes.

All About: Animae San Diego

Partnering with Bells + Whistles, Brintons produced 615 square yards of unique Axminster carpets for Animae San Diego.

Inspired in part by an ancient remote forest on Japan’s Yakushima Island, a bespoke Brinton’s wool carpet stretching the length of the 6000 SF room mimics the sun-kissed forest floor as custom noir terrazzo snakes like a shimmering river alongside it.

Barbara Rourke, Founder and Creative Director of Bells + Whistles, graciously let us in on the brains behind this beauty of an installation.

Providing Perspective During a Time of Uncertainty

Brintons has been at the forefront of the woven carpet industry since its inception in 1783, only seven years after The United States declared independence. Since that time the company has been through countless European as well as global wars, unstable economies and numerous pandemics.

Through these years of uncertainty, Brintons has designed and implemented its own looms, pioneered the use of the now industry-wide standard yarn blend consisting of 80% wool and 20% nylon, successfully broke into the Americas market and acquired F.D. Agnella in Poland in 2015. This acquisition further strengthened the company’s commercial position in key European markets while extending the service to clients across the globe.

In the past 237 years, Brintons has not only endured, they have thrived.

At the core of Brintons are strong, resilient and resourceful people, some who are fourth, fifth and sixth generation team members. Since 1783, this team, as time has proven, has adapted and weathered the storm.

Today brings new challenges. We are seeing nations around the world under lockdown while ‘stay-at-home’ orders are starting across the United States due to the Coronavirus. Championing integrity as a core value, we wanted to honestly relay to all of our clients how Brintons is being affected and what to expect in the coming days.

These mandated shutdowns are causing us to cease operations at some of our facilities as well as presenting challenges in obtaining raw materials. With our global footprint we are able to continue producing and shipping our award-winning carpet even with these short-term supply chain issues. The mandated government shutdowns at some of our existing plants will directly contribute to extended lead-times and we will do everything possible to ensure our commitments are met to best of our ability during this global pandemic.

We are committed to transparency in our operations and will work to update our teams and clients as news arises regarding the Coronavirus pandemic. At this time Brintons is ensuring our staff and their families are safe and healthy. The majority of our teams are working from home and practicing the social distancing we need to collectively shut the spread of the virus down. We are actively working on projects daily and we are here to help in any way possible.
